عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ:
صَحِبَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ قَوْمًا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، فَقَتَلَهُمْ وَأَخَذَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَأَسْلَمَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: أَمَّا الْإِسْلَامُ فَأَقْبَلُ، وَأَمَّا الْمَالُ فَلَسْتُ مِنْهُ فِي شَيْءٍ قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ: وَسَمِعْتُ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا " أَخَذُوا عَلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ أَنْ لَا يَغْدِرَ بِهِمْ حَتَّى يُؤْذِنَهُمْ، فَنَزَلُوا مَنْزِلًا، فَجَعَلَ يَحْفِرُ بِنَصْلِ سَيْفِهِ، فَقَالُوا: مَا تَصْنَعُ ؟ قَالَ: أَحْفِرُ قُبُورَكُمْ فَاسْتَحَلَّهُمْ بِذَلِكَ، فَشَرِبُوا ثُمَّ نَامُوا، فَقَتَلَهُمْ فَلَمْ يَنْجُ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا الشَّرِيدُ فَلِذَلِكَ سُمِّيَ: الشَّرِيدَ
Translation
✧ Al-Mughīrah b. Shuʿbah accompanied a people in the pre-Islamic era, then he killed them and took their wealth, then he came and embraced Islam. The Prophet ﷺ said: As for Islam, I accept it; as for the wealth, I have nothing to do with it. Maʿmar said: And I heard that they had taken an assurance from al-Mughīrah that he would not betray them until he notified them. So they halted at a stopping place, and he began digging with the point of his sword. They said: What are you doing? He said: I am digging your graves. By that he deemed them lawful to be killed, so they drank and then slept, and he killed them. None of them escaped except al-Sharīd, and for that reason he was called al-Sharīd.
