عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ:
لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ بَدْرٍ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: مَنْ قَتَلَ قَتِيلًا فَلَهُ كَذَا، وَكَذَا فَقَتَلُوا سَبْعِينَ، وَأَسَرُوا سَبْعِينَ، فَجَاءَ أَبُو الْيَسَرِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو بِأَسِيرَيْنِ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّكَ وَعَدْتَنَا مَنْ قَتَلَ قَتِيلًا فَلَهُ كَذَا، وَمَنْ أَسَرَ أَسِيرًا فَلَهُ كَذَا، فَقَدْ جِئْتُ بِأَسِيرَيْنِ، فَقَامَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّهُ لَمْ تَمْنَعْنَا زَهَادَةٌ فِي الْآخِرَةِ، وَلَا جُبْنٌ عَنِ الْعَدُوِّ، وَلَكِنَّا قُمْنَا هَذَا الْمَقَامَ خَشْيَةَ أَنْ يَقْتَطِعَكَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ، وَإِنَّكَ إِنْ تُعْطِ هَؤُلَاءِ لَمْ يَبْقَ لِأَصْحَابِكَ شَيْءٌ، قَالَ: فَجَعَلَ هَؤُلَاءِ يَقُولُونَ، وَهَؤُلَاءِ يَقُولُونَ فَنَزَلَتْ: ﴿يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الأَنْفَالِ قُلِ الأَنْفَالُ لِلهِ وَالرَّسُولِ فَاتَّقُوا اللهَ وَأَصْلِحُوا ذَاتَ بَيْنِكُمْ ﴾قَالَ: فَسَلَّمُوا الْغَنِيمَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: ثُمَّ نَزَلَتْ: ﴿وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا غَنِمْتُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَأَنَّ لِلهِ خُمُسَهُ ﴾
Translation
✧ On the day of Badr, the Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Whoever kills an enemy shall have such-and-such, and such-and-such.” They killed seventy and took seventy captives. Abu al-Yasar b. ‘Amr brought two captives and said: “O Messenger of God, you promised us that whoever kills an enemy shall have such-and-such, and whoever captures a prisoner shall have such-and-such. I have brought two captives.” Sa‘d b. ‘Ubada stood and said: “O Messenger of God, it was not lack of desire for the Hereafter that held us back, nor cowardice before the enemy, but we stood in this position for fear that the polytheists would cut you off. If you give to these, nothing will remain for your companions.” He said: Then these began to speak, and those began to speak, and it was revealed: “They ask you about the spoils of war. Say: The spoils of war belong to God and the Messenger. So fear God and set things right among yourselves” [Q 8:1]. He said: So they surrendered the booty to the Messenger of God ﷺ. He said: Then it was revealed: “And know that whatever you take as spoils, a fifth belongs to God” [Q 8:41].
