عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ سِحْرِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ الْعَبْدِيِّ، قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ: وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ غَيْرِي ( شِبْرَ ) وَهُوَ الصَّوَابُ قَالَ:
كُنَّا بِالْقَادِسِيَّةِ فَخَرَجَ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ عَلَيْهِ السِّلَاحُ وَالْهَيْئَةُ قَالَ: مُرْدٌ، وَمُرْدٌ يَقُولُ: رَجُلٌ وَرَجُلٌ، فَعَرَضْتُ عَلَى أَصْحَابِي أَنْ يُبَارِزُوهُ، فَأَبَوْا، وَكُنْتُ رَجُلًا قَصِيرًا قَالَ: فَقَدِمْتُ إِلَيْهِ، فَصَاحَ صَوْتًا، وَكَبَّرْتُ وَهَدَرَ، وَكَبَّرْتُ فَاحْتَمَلَ بِي فَضَرَبَ قَالَ: وَيَمِيلُ بِهِ فَرَسُهُ قَالَ: فَأَخَذْتُ خِنْجَرَهُ، فَوَثَبْتُ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ، فَذَبَحْتُهُ قَالَ: وَأَخَذْتُ مِنْطَقَةً لَهُ وَسَيْفًا، وَرَايَتَيْنِ، وَدِرَاعًا، وَسِوَارَيْنِ، فَقُوِّمَ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ أَلْفًا فَأَتَيْتُ بِهِ سَعْدَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ فَقَالَ: رُحْ إِلَيَّ، وَرُحْ بِالسَّلَبِ قَالَ: فَرُحْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَامَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ: هَذَا سَلَبُ شَبْرِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ، خُذْهُ هَنِيئًا مَرِيئًا فَنَفَّلَنِيهِ كُلَّهُ
Translation
✧ We were at al-Qadisiyyah when a man came out from among them, armed and well-equipped. He said: 'One on one! One on one!' meaning: man against man. I offered my companions the chance to fight him, but they refused. I was a short man. He said: I went forward to him. He shouted, and I said the takbir. He roared, and I said the takbir. He attacked me and struck, and his horse veered with him. I grabbed his dagger, leapt onto his chest, and slew him. He said: I took his belt, a sword, two banners, a coat of mail, and two bracelets; their value was estimated at twelve thousand. I brought them to Sa'd b. Malik. He said: 'Come to me later, and bring the spoils.' So I went to him later, and he stood on the pulpit and said: 'This is the spoils of Shabr b. 'Alqamah. Take it all, may it be pleasant and wholesome to you.' So he gave it all to me as a bonus.
