✧ Killing by fire

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَامِرٌ الشَّعْبِيُّ:
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَعَثَ بَعْثًا إِلَى نَاسٍ وَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَقْتُلُوهُمْ كُلَّهُمْ إِنْ قَدَرُوا عَلَيْهِمْ، فَجَاءَ الْبَشِيرُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُمْ صَبَّحُوهُمْ، فَجَعَلُوا يَقْتُلُونَهُمْ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَبْتَشِرُ وَيَتَبَسَّمُ لِمَا هُوَ يُخْبِرُهُ "، فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ كَذَلِكَ قَالَ الرَّجُلُ: فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ فَسَعَى حَتَّى رَقِيَ فِي شَجَرَةٍ طَوِيلَةٍ ضَخْمَةٍ، فَرَمَيْنَاهُ بِالنَّبْلِ وَهُوَ فِيهَا، ثُمَّ أَوْقَدْنَا نَارًا وَأَحْرَقْنَا الشَّجَرَةَ قَالَ: " فَغَضِبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ ذُكِرَ لَهُ الْإِحْرَاقُ بِالنَّارِ " قَالَ الرَّجُلُ: فَسَقَطَ الرَّجُلُ، فَإِذَا هُوَ قَدْ كَانَتِ النَّبْلُ قَتَلَتْهُ
Translation
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a detachment against some people and ordered them to kill them all if they gained power over them. The bearer of good news came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him that they had attacked them in the morning and began killing them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began rejoicing and smiling at what he was telling him. While he was like that, the man said: "A man passed by and ran until he climbed a tall, massive tree. We shot arrows at him while he was in it, then we lit a fire and burned the tree." He said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry when burning with fire was mentioned to him." The man said: "The man fell, and it turned out the arrows had killed him."
