Translation

✧ Ali killed a people who disbelieved after their Islam and burned them with fire. That reached Ibn Abbas, and he said: "If it were I, I would have killed them and not burned them, because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever changes—or he said: whoever reverts from—his religion, kill him, and do not torture with the punishment of Allah,' meaning fire." He said: "Ibn Abbas's statement reached Ali, and he said: 'Woe to Ibn Abbas!'"
