✧ Killing the polytheists by captivation and ransoming captives

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ: وَأَخْبَرَنِي عُثْمَانُ الْجَزَرِيُّ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ:
فَادَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِأُسَارَى بَدْرٍ، فَكَانَ فِدَاءُ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمْ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافٍ، وَقَتَلَ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ قَبْلَ الْفِدَاءِ، فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَقَتَلَهُ صَبْرًا قَالَ: مَنْ لِلصِّبْيَةِ يَا مُحَمَّدُ ؟ قَالَ: " النَّارُ
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ ransomed the captives of Badr, and the ransom of each one of them was four thousand. He killed 'Uqba b. Abi Mu'ayt before the ransom. 'Ali b. Abi Talib rose to him and killed him patiently. He said, 'Who will care for the children, O Muhammad?' He said, 'The Fire.'
