عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ:
أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ بَعَثَ الْجُيُوشَ إِلَى الشَّامِ، وَبَعَثَ أُمَرَاءَ، ثُمَّ بَعَثَ يَزِيدَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَقَالَ لَهُ وَهُوَ يَمْشِي: إِمَّا أَنْ تَرْكَبَ وَإِمَّا أَنْ أَنْزِلَ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رِضْوَانُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ: " مَا أَنَا بِرَاكِبٍ، وَمَا أَنْتَ بِنَازِلٍ، إِنِّي احْتَسَبْتُ خُطَايَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ " - وَيَزِيدُ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَى رُبُعٍ مِنَ الْأَرْبَاعِ - قَالَ: " إِنَّكَ سَتَجِدُ قَوْمًا زَعَمُوا أَنَّهُمْ حَبَسُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ لِلهِ فَدَعْهُمْ وَمَا زَعَمُوا أَنَّهُمْ حَبَسُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ لَهُ، وَسَتَجِدُ قَوْمًا قَدْ فَحَصُوا عَنْ أَوْسَاطِ رُءُوسِهِمْ مِنَ الشَّعَرِ وَتَرَكُوا مِنْهَا أَمْثَالَ الْعَصَائِبِ فَاضْرِبُوا مَا فَحَصُوا عَنْهُ بِالسَّيْفِ، وَإِنِّي مُوصِيكَ بِعَشْرٍ: لَا تَقْتُلَنَّ امْرَأَةً، وَلَا صَبِيًّا، وَلَا كَبِيرًا، وَلَا تَعْقِرَنَّ نَخْلًا، وَلَا تَحْرِقَنَّهَا، وَلَا تَجْبُنْ، وَلَا تَغْلُلِ، الَّذِينَ فَحَصُوا عَنْ رُءُوسِهِمُ الشَّمَامِسَةُ، وَالَّذِينَ حَبَسُوا أَنْفُسَهُمُ الَّذِينَ فِي الصَّوَامِعِ
Translation
✧ Abu Bakr al-Siddiq sent armies to Syria and sent commanders, then he sent Yazid b. Abi Sufyan and said to him while he was walking: 'Either you ride or I dismount.' Abu Bakr, ؓ, said: 'I will not ride and you will not dismount. I have accounted my steps in the path of Allah.' At that time Yazid was in command of a quarter of the quarters. He said: 'You will find a people who claim that they have confined themselves to Allah, so leave them and that which they claim to have confined themselves to for Him. You will find a people who have shaved the middle of their heads of hair and left locks like headbands, so strike with the sword what they have shaved. I counsel you with ten things: do not kill a woman, nor a child, nor an elder; do not hamstring a palm tree nor burn it; do not be cowardly; and do not steal from the spoils. Those who have shaved their heads are the monks, and those who have confined themselves are those in the monasteries.'
