عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، وَعَاصِمٍ، أَوْ أَحَدِهِمَا عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ قَالَ:

كَانَ النَّاسُ يُكَبِّرُونَ إِذَا عَلَوُا الثَّنَايَا، وَإِذَا هَبَطُوا فَكَانُوا يَرْفَعُونَ أَصْوَاتَهُمْ رَفْعًا شَدِيدًا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: إِنَّكُمْ لَا تَدْعُونَ أَصَمَّ وَلَا غَائِبًا وَلَكِنَّكُمْ تَدْعُونَ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا، إِنَّهُ مَعَكُمْ، وَأَمَرَهُمْ بِالسُّكُونِ

Translation

✧ The people used to say takbir when they ascended the mountain passes, and when they descended, they would raise their voices very loudly. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Indeed, you are not calling upon one who is deaf or absent, but you are calling upon One who is Hearing and Seeing. Indeed, He is with you.” And he commanded them to be quiet.
