✧ The Construction of the Ka'bah

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي سَوَّارٌ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ قَالَ:
لَمَّا أَهْبَطَ اللهُ آدَمَ كَانَ رِجْلَاهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَرَأْسُهُ فِي السَّمَاءِ، يَسْمَعُ كَلَامَ أَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ وَدُعَاءَهُمْ، فَأَنِسَ إِلَيْهِمْ، فَهَابَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ مِنْهُ حَتَّى شَكَتْ إِلَى اللهِ فِي دُعَائِهَا وَفِي صَلَاتِهَا فَأَخْفَضَهُ اللهُ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ، فَلَمَّا فَقَدَ مَا كَانَ يَسْمَعُ مِنْهُمُ اسْتَوْحَشَ، حَتَّى شَكَى إِلَى اللهِ فِي دُعَائِهِ وَفِي صَلَاتِهِ، فَوَجَّهَهُ إِلَى مَكَّةَ، فَكَانَ مَوْضِعُ قَدَمِهِ قَرْيَةً، وَخُطْوَتُهُ مَفَازَةً حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى مَكَّةَ، وَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ يَاقُوتَةً مِنْ يَاقُوتِ الْجَنَّةِ، فَكَانَتْ عَلَى مَوْضِعِ الْبَيْتِ الْآنَ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُطَافُ بِهِ حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللهُ الطُّوفَانَ فَرُفِعَتْ تِلْكَ الْيَاقُوتَةُ، فَبَعَثَ اللهُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَبَنَاهُ، فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: ﴿وَإِذْ بَوَّأْنَا لإِبْرَاهِيمَ مَكَانَ الْبَيْتِ ﴾.
Translation
✧ When Allah sent Adam down, his feet were on the earth and his head in the sky, hearing the speech of the inhabitants of the sky and their supplication, so he became intimate with them. The angels were in awe of him until they complained to Allah in their supplication and prayer, so Allah lowered him to the earth. When he lost what he used to hear from them, he felt lonely until he complained to Allah in his supplication and prayer. So He directed him to Makkah, and the place of his foot became a village and his stride a desert until he reached Makkah. Allah sent down a ruby from the rubies of Paradise, and it was at the site of the House now. It continued to be circumambulated until Allah sent the flood, and that ruby was lifted up. Then Allah sent Ibrahim and he built it. That is the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: ﴿And when We assigned to Ibrahim the site of the House﴾.
