✧ Seeking Refuge at the House

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ،
أَنَّهُ تَعَوَّذَ بِالْبَيْتِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ الْحَارِثُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ: " أَتَدْرِي يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، مَنْ أَوَّلُ مَنْ صَنَعَ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: " عَجَائِزُ قَوْمِكَ، عَجَائِزُ قُرَيْشٍ " قَالَ: فَحَسِبْتُ عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ تَرَكَ ذَلِكَ بَعْدُ
Translation
✧ He sought refuge at the House, and al-Harith b. Abd Allah said to him: "Do you know, O Commander of the Believers, who was the first to do this?" He said: "No." He said: "The old women of your people, the old women of Quraysh." He said: "I think Abd al-Malik abandoned that afterwards."
