عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ قَالَ:
لَمْ يَكُنِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَتَعَوَّذُ " قَالَ: وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَرَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ وَلَا جَابِرًا وَلَا أَبَا سَعِيدٍ وَلَا ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَلْتَزِمُ أَحَدٌ مِنْ زَمْزَمَ الْبَيْتَ، قُلْتُ: أَبَلَغَكَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَمَسُّ شَيْئًا مِنْ بَاطِنِهَا أَوْ مِنْ أَدْرَاجِهَا يَتَعَوَّذُ بِهِ ؟ قَالَ: " لَا ". قُلْتُ: وَلَا عَنْ أَحَدٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ ؟ قَالَ: " لَا "، قُلْتُ: وَلَا رَأَيْتَ أَحَدًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَصْنَعُ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ: " لَا "، قُلْتُ: أَفَتَعَلَّقُ أَنْتَ بِالْبَيْتِ ؟ قَالَ: " لَا، وَلَكِنْ أَضَعُ يَدِي فِي قِبَلِ الْبَيْتِ وَلَا أَمَسُّهُ صِرْهَمًا "، قُلْتُ: فَخَارِجُ الْبَيْتِ تَعَلَّقُ بِهِ ؟ قَالَ: " لَا ". قَالَ: " وَلِمَ تَعَوَّذْتَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْهُ لَمْ أُبَالِ بَأَيِّهِ تَعَوَّذْتَ، لَمْ أَتَّبِعْ حِينَئِذٍ شَيْئًا
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ did not seek refuge." He said: And he informed me that he did not see Abu Hurayrah, Jabir, Abu Sa'id, or Ibn 'Umar clinging to any part of the House from Zamzam. I said: Has it reached you that the Prophet ﷺ used to touch anything of its interior or its staircases to seek refuge by it? He said: "No." I said: Nor from any of his companions? He said: "No." I said: Nor did you see anyone from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ doing that? He said: "No." I said: Do you yourself cling to the House? He said: "No, but I place my hand toward the House and I do not touch it at all." I said: What about the outside of the House, do you cling to it? He said: "No." He said: "And as for your seeking refuge by any part of it, I would not care which part you sought refuge by; I would not then be following anything."
