عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ:
لَا تَسْكُنْ مَكَّةَ، وَكَانَ عُثْمَانُ رَجُلًا جَمِيلًا قَالَ: فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ يُرِيدُ ذَلِكَ فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ، إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ يَدْفَعَ اللهُ عَنِّي قَالَ: " لَسْتُ أَعْنِي ذَلِكَ، وَلَكِنْ إِذَا سَكَنْتَ فِي الْحَرَمِ أَوْشَكْتَ أَنْ تَعْمَلَ فِيهِ مَا يُعْمَلُ فِي الْحِلِّ، إِذَا طَالَ عَلَيْكَ، وَالْخَطَأُ فِيهِ أَكْثَرُ
Translation
✧ “Do not reside in Makkah.” ʿUthmān was a handsome man. He said: I thought he meant that, so I said: “O Abū Muḥammad, I hope that God will protect me.” He said: “I do not mean that. But if you reside in the Ḥaram, you will soon commit in it what is committed outside it when a long time passes upon you, for error in it is greater.”
