✧ How Few the Pilgrims Are, and What Wealth Is Not Accepted in Hajj

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ:

قَالَ رَجُلٌ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ مَا أَكْثَرَ الْحَاجِّ ؟ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: " مَا أَقَلَّهُمْ ؟ " قَالَ: فَرَأَى ابْنُ عُمَرَ رَجُلًا عَلَى بَعِيرٍ عَلَى رَحْلٍ رَثٍّ، خِطَامُهُ حَبْلٌ، فَقَالَ: " لَعَلَّ هَذَا

Translation

✧ A man said in the presence of Ibn Umar, “How numerous the pilgrims are!” Ibn Umar said, “How few they are!” Then Ibn Umar saw a man on a camel with a worn saddle, its halter a rope, and said, “Perhaps this one.”
