✧ The Virtue of Hajj

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ كَعْبٍ:

أَنَّ هَذَا الْبَيْتَ اشْتَكَى الْخَرَابَ إِلَى اللهِ تَعَالَى، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ: إِنَّ لَهُ لِسَانًا يَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ ؟ فَقَالَ: " نَعَمْ، وَقَلْبٌ يَعْقِلُ بِهِ "، فَقَالَ: " سَأُبْدِلُكَ بِتَوْرَاةٍ، وَأَجْعَلُ لَكَ عُمَّارًا، يَتَعَطَّفُونَ عَلَيْكَ، كَمَا تَتَعَطَّفُ الظِّئْرَةُ عَلَى فُرُوخِهَا، وَيَدِفُّونَ إِلَيْكَ كَمَا تَدِفُّ النُّسُورُ إِلَى أَوْكَارِهَا سلونك حُدُودًا سُجُودًا

Translation

✧ That this House complained to Allah, exalted is He, about ruin. A man said to him, “Does it have a tongue with which it speaks?” He said, “Yes, and a heart with which it reasons.” Then he said, “I will replace you with a Torah, and I will make for you dwellers who incline toward you as a wet nurse inclines toward her young, and they will hasten to you as vultures hasten to their nests. They asked you for prescribed limits, prostrating.”
