Translation
✧ I was with Ibn Umar when a man asked him about tila'—meaning thickened grape juice—and he said: "The Commander of the Believers used to drink it and give it as provision to our servants." I said: "But they cook it while it is wine." He said: "If you know it is wine, then do not drink it." I said: "What about cheese?" He said: "It is brought from Iraq and we eat it and feed it to our servants." I said: "But they put carrion in it." He said: "If you know that there is carrion in it, then do not eat it."
