Translation
✧ We set out as pilgrims, and there we were with snakes as if they were boiling pots, so we killed them. He said: A man among us made his camel trample a dabb lizard and crushed its back. I asked ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb about the snakes, and he said: "You have killed an enemy." And we asked him about the dabb, so he turned to me and to a man and said: "Do you deem for me a kid that has reached water and herbage sufficient for it?" He said: Yes. So he ordered him to give it.
