✧ The virtue of fasting

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ هُبَيْرَةَ بْنِ يَرِيمَ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ:

الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةُ الرَّجُلِ، كَجُنَّةِ أَحَدِكُمْ فِي الْبَأْسِ، وَسَيِّدُ الْأَيَّامِ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ، وَسَيِّدُ الشُّهُورِ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ، وَاعْتَبِرُوا النَّاسَ بِالْأَخْدَانِ، فَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَا يُخَادِنُ إِلَّا مَنْ رَضِيَ نَحْوَهُ أَوْ حَالَهُ

Translation

✧ Fasting is a man's shield, like the shield of one of you in battle. The master of days is Friday, and the master of months is Ramadan. Consider people by their close friends, for a man befriends only one whose way or condition pleases him.
