عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ قَالَ:
قَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَ رَجُلًا صَامَ الدَّهْرَ كُلَّهُ ؟ قَالَ: وَدِدْتُ أَنَّهُ لَا يَطْعَمُ الدَّهْرَ شَيْئًا، قَالَ: فَثُلُثَيْهِ ؟ قَالَ: " أَكْثَرُ "، قَالَ: فَنِصْفَهُ ؟ قَالَ: " أَكْثَرُ "، قَالَ: فَثُلُثَهُ ؟ قَالَ: " لَمْ يَنْزِلْ، أَفَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِمَا يُذْهِبُ وَحَرَ الصَّدْرِ، صِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ
Translation
✧ A man said: “O Messenger of God, what do you think of a man who fasts all the time?” He said: “I wish he would never eat anything.” He said: “Then two-thirds of it?” He said: “More.” He said: “Then half of it?” He said: “More.” He said: “Then a third of it?” He said: “That has not been revealed. Shall I not tell you what removes the rancor of the heart? Fasting three days of every month.”
