✧ Fasting during the sacred months

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي لَبِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ قَالَ:
سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ عَنْ صِيَامِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ: كَانَ يَصُومُ حَتَّى نَقُولَ: قَدْ صَامَ، وَيُفْطِرُ حَتَّى نَقُولَ: قَدْ أَفْطَرَ، وَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَامَ مِنْ شَهْرٍ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ صِيَامِهِ مِنْ شَعْبَانَ إِلَّا مَا كَانَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ، كَانَ يَصُومُ شَعْبَانَ كُلَّهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا قَالَ: وَسَأَلْتُهَا عَنْ صَلَاتِهِ ؟ فَقَالَتْ: كَانَتْ صَلَاةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي رَمَضَانَ وَفِي غَيْرِهِ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً مِنْهَا رَكْعَتَا الْفَجْرِ
Translation
✧ I asked Aisha about the fasting of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said: He would fast until we said: He has fasted. And he would break his fast until we said: He has broken his fast. I did not see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fast in any month more than his fasting in Sha'ban, except for what was in Ramadan. He used to fast all of Sha'ban except a little. He said: And I asked her about his prayer. She said: The prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Ramadan and at other times was thirteen rak'ahs, including the two rak'ahs of Fajr.
