✧ Fasting on the Day of Ashura

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ:
إِذَا أَضْحَيْتَ فَعُدَّ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ [١]ثَمَّ أَصْبِحْ صَائِمًا فَهُوَ يَوْمُ عَاشُورَاءَ. قَالَ يُونُسُ: وَأَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَخِي الْحَكَمِ، عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِصِيَامِهِ
Translation
✧ When you enter the morning of the day of sacrifice, count nine and twenty, then begin the day fasting, and that is the day of Ashura. Yunus said: And the son of my brother al-Hakam informed me, from him, that he said: 'That is the day which the Messenger of God ﷺ commanded to fast.'
