✧ Breaking a voluntary fast and fasting it if one did not intend it at night

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ قَالَ:
كُنْتُ أَصُومُ يَوْمًا، وَأُفْطِرُ يَوْمًا، فَكُنْتُ فِي سَفَرٍ فَكَانَ يَوْمَ فِطْرِي، فَسِرْنَا فَلَمْ نَنَزِلْ حَتَّى كَانَ بَعْدَ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ، أَوْ حِينَ الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: " لَأَصُومَنَّ هَذَا الْيَوْمَ، فَصُمْتُ " فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِابْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، فَقَالَ: " أَصَبْتَ
Translation
✧ I used to fast one day and break the fast one day. While I was traveling, it was my day to break the fast, and we journeyed and did not stop until after midday, or at the time of prayer. He said: I said: 'I will certainly fast this day,' and I fasted. I mentioned that to Ibn al-Musayyab, and he said: 'You did right.'
