✧ Breaking a voluntary fast and fasting it if one did not intend it at night

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ، وَعَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ، وَقَالَهُ قَتَادَةُ:
أَنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ، كَانَ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ سَأَلَ أَهْلَهُ الْغَدَاءَ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ قَالَ: " إِنَّا صَائِمُونَ "
Translation
✧ Abu al-Darda, when he began the day, would ask his family for the midday meal. If there was none, he would say: I am fasting.
