Translation

✧ We went out on a military expedition in the land of Rum. While we were in the land of Rum and with us was Awf b. Malik al-Ashja'i, he said: He addressed us, and I heard him say: I heard Umar, the Commander of the Believers, say: Whoever fasts a day outside Ramadan, and feeds a poor person, and combines them in ransom, then they equal a day of Ramadan.
