✧ Delaying the Sahur

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ شَبِيبِ بْنِ غَرْقَدَةَ، عَنْ حِبَّانَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ:
أَتَيْتُ عَلِيًّا وَهُوَ مُعَسْكِرٌ بِدَيْرِ أَبِي مُوسَى وَهُوَ يَتَسَحَّرُ، فَقَالَ: " ادْنُ "، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: إِنِّي أُرِيدُ الصِّيَامَ قَالَ: " وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ الصِّيَامَ " فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ قَالَ لِلْمُؤَذِّنِ: " أَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ
Translation
✧ I came to 'Ali while he was encamped at Dayr Abi Musa and he was eating the predawn meal. He said: "Come close." I said: "I intend to fast." He said: "And I intend to fast." When he finished, he said to the mu'adhdhin: "Commence the prayer."
