✧ Delaying the Sahur

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ قَالَ:
جَاءَ بِلَالٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَتَسَحَّرُ فَقَالَ: الصَّلَاةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ! قَالَ: فَثَبَتَ كَمَا هُوَ يَأْكُلُ، ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ، فَقَالَ: الصَّلَاةَ وَهُوَ حَالُهُ، ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ الثَّالِثَةَ، فَقَالَ: الصَّلَاةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدْ وَاللهِ أَصْبَحْتَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: يَرْحَمُ اللهُ بِلَالًا، لَوْلَا بِلَالٌ لَرَجَوْنَا أَنْ يُرَخَّصَ لَنَا حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ
Translation
✧ Bilal came to the Prophet ﷺ while the Prophet ﷺ was eating the predawn meal, and said: "The prayer, O Messenger of God!" He said: He remained as he was, eating. Then he came to him again and said: "The prayer," while he was still in that state. Then he came a third time and said: "The prayer, O Messenger of God! By God, it has become morning for you." The Prophet ﷺ said: "May God have mercy on Bilal. Were it not for Bilal, we would have hoped for a concession until the sun rose."
