✧ What the Sky Waters

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ:
عَشَرَةُ أَفْرَاقٍ تَزِيدُ عَلَى مِائَةٍ تُسْقَى بِالدَّلْوِ لَيْسَتْ كَسْرًا، يَكُونُ فِيهَا نِصْفُ الْفَرَقِ ؟ فَمَا أَجَازَ لِي مِنْ شَيْءٍ. وَأَقُولُ أَنَا: لَوْ كَانَ فِيهَا شَيْءٌ كَانَ فِي عِشْرِينَ دِرْهَمًا تَزِيدُ عَلَى مِائَتَيْ دِرْهَمٍ نِصْفُ دِرْهَمٍ قَالَ: فَقَالَ لِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ: " أَرَى فِي كُلِّ خَمْسَةِ أَفْرَاقٍ تَزِيدُ عَلَى مِائَةٍ صَدَقَةً لَيْسَتْ كَكَسْرِ الْوَرِقِ
Translation
✧ Ten faraqs more than a hundred, watered by bucket, not as a fraction: is half a faraq due on them? But he did not permit me anything of that. And I myself say: If anything were due on it, it would be like twenty dirhams more than two hundred dirhams: half a dirham. He said: Then ʿAmr b. Dīnār said to me: "I think that on every five faraqs more than a hundred, charity is due, not like the fraction of silver."
