عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ،
عَنْ مُقَاضَاةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَهُودَ أَهْلِ خَيْبَرَ عَلَى أَنَّ لَنَا نِصْفَ الثَّمَرِ، وَلَهُمْ نِصْفَهُ قَالَ: وَيَكْفُونَ الْعَمَلَ حَتَّى إِذَا طَابَ ثَمَرُهُمْ أَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالُوا: إِنَّ ثَمَرَنَا قَدْ طَابَ فَابْعَثْ خَارِصًا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ " فَبَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ابْنَ رَوَاحَةَ "، فَلَمَّا طَافَ فِي نَخْلِهِمْ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِمْ، فَقَالَ: " وَاللهِ مَا أَعْلَمُ فِي خَلْقِ اللهِ أَحَدًا أَعْظَمَ فِرْيَةً، وَأَعْدَى لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْكُمْ، وَاللهِ مَا خَلَقَ اللهُ أَحَدًا أَبْغَضَ إِلَيَّ مِنْكُمْ، وَاللهِ مَا يَحْمِلُنِي ذَلِكَ عَلَى أَنْ أَحِيفَ عَلَيْكُمْ قَدْرَ مِثْقَالِ ذَرَّةٍ، وَأَنَا أَعْلَمُهَا "، قَالَ: " ثُمَّ خَرَصَهَا جَمِيعًا الَّذِي لَهُمْ، وَالَّذِي لِلْيَهُودِ ثَمَانِينَ أَلْفَ وَسْقٍ "، ثُمَّ قَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ: حَرَبْتَنَا فَقَالَ ابْنُ رَوَاحَةَ: " إِنْ شِئْتُمْ، فَأَعْطُونَا أَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ وَسْقٍ وَنَخْرُجُ عَنْكُمْ، وَإِنْ شِئْتُمْ أَعْطَيْنَاكُمْ أَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ وَسْقٍ، وَتَخْرُجُونَ عَنَّا " فَنَظَرَ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ، فَقَالُوا: بِهَذَا قَامَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ، وَبِهَذَا يَغْلِبُونَكُمْ
Translation
✧ About the Prophet's ﷺ agreement with the Jews of Khaybar that half the fruit is ours and half is theirs. He said: They would do the work until their fruit ripened, then they came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'Our fruit has ripened, so send an estimator between us and you.' The Prophet ﷺ sent Ibn Rawāḥah. When he went around their date palms and looked at them, he said: 'By God, I know of no one in God's creation with a greater lie and more hostile to the Messenger of God ﷺ than you. By God, God has created no one more hateful to me than you. By God, that will not make me wrong you by the weight of a speck, and I know it.' He said: Then he estimated all of it, what was theirs and what was the Jews', eighty thousand wasqs. Then the Jews said: 'You have robbed us.' Ibn Rawāḥah said: 'If you wish, give us forty thousand wasqs and we will leave you, and if you wish, we will give you forty thousand wasqs and you leave us.' They looked at one another and said: 'By this the heavens and the earth are upheld, and by this they will overcome you.'
