✧ If Its Zakat Is Paid, It Is Not a Treasure

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ،
أَنَّ رَجُلًا بَاعَ رَجُلًا حَائِطًا لَهُ أَوْ مَالًا بِمَالٍ عَظِيمٍ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ: " أَحْسِنْ مَوْضِعَ هَذَا الْمَالِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ الرَّجُلُ: أَيْنَ أَضَعُهُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ؟ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: " ضَعْهُ تَحْتَ مِقْعَدِ الْمَرْأَةِ "، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ: أَوَ لَيْسَ بِكَنْزٍ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ؟ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: " لَيْسَ بِكَنْزٍ إِذَا أَدَّيْتَ زَكَاتَهُ

✧ A man sold another man a walled garden of his, or property, for a great amount of wealth. ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb said to him, “Put this wealth in a good place.” The man said to him, “Where shall I place it, O Commander of the Faithful?” ʿUmar said, “Place it under the woman's seat.” The man said, “Is it not a treasure, O Commander of the Faithful?” ʿUmar said, “It is not a treasure if you pay its zakāh.”
