✧ Wiping with a Towel

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
سُئِلَ عَطَاءٌ، عَنِ الْمِنْدِيلِ الْمُهَدَّبِ أَيَمْسَحُ بِهِ الرَّجُلُ الْمَاءَ ؟ فَأَبَى أَنْ يُرَخِّصَ فِيهِ، وَقَالَ: هُوَ شَيْءٌ أُحْدِثَ، قُلْتُ: أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كُنْتُ أُرِيدُ أَنْ يُذْهِبَ الْمِنْدِيلُ عَنِّي بَرْدَ الْمَاءِ، قَالَ: فَلَا بَأْسَ بِهِ إِذًا
Translation
✧ Ata was asked about a fringed towel, whether a man may wipe water with it. He refused to allow that and said: It is something innovated. I said: What do you think if I want the towel to remove the cold of the water from me? He said: Then there is no harm in it.
