✧ The place of charity and the delivery of charity in its proper places

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ نُعَيْمٍ،
أَنَّ ابْنَ مُطِيعٍ قَالَ: لَا أَدْفَعُ صَدَقَةَ أَمْوَالِي إِلَى ابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ يَعْلِفُهَا خَيْلَهُ، وَيُطْعِمُهَا عَبِيدَهُ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ ابْنُ عُمَرَ " أَنَّكَ لَمْ تُصِبْ، وَلَمْ تُؤَدِّهَا، وَإِنْ تَصَدَّقْتَ بِمِثْلِهَا فَلَا تُقْبَلُ مِنْكَ، أَدِّهَا إِلَيْهِمْ، فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُؤْمَرْ أَنْ تَدْفَعَهَا إِلَّا إِلَيْهِمْ، بَرَّ أَوْ أَثِمَ
Translation
✧ Ibn Muti' said: 'I will not give the charity of my wealth to Ibn al-Zubayr for him to feed his horses and feed his slaves.' Ibn 'Umar sent to him: 'You have not done right, and you have not paid it. Even if you give the like of it in charity, it will not be accepted from you. Give it to them, for you are only commanded to give it to them, whether he does good or sins.'
