عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ:
لَمَّا تَهَيَّأَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ - أَوْ قَالَ: لَمَّا تَيَسَّرَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ - لِقِتَالِ أَهْلِ الرِّدَّةِ، قَالَ لَهُ: كَيْفَ تُقَاتِلُ النَّاسَ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ ؟ وَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: نص إضافيأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، فَإِذَا قَالُوهَا عَصَمُوا مِنِّي دِمَاءَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا، وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَى اللهِ " فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: وَاللهِ لَأُقَاتِلَنَّ مَنْ فَرَّقَ بَيْنَ الصَّلَاةِ وَالزَّكَاةِ، فَإِنَّ الزَّكَاةَ حَقُّ الْمَالِ، وَاللهِ لَوْ مَنَعُونِي عِقَالًا كَانُوا يُؤَدُّونَهُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَقَاتَلْتُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: " وَاللهِ مَا هُوَ إِلَّا أَنْ رَأَيْتُ أَنَّ اللهَ قَدْ شَرَحَ صَدْرَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ لِلْقِتَالِ فَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ
Translation
✧ When Abu Bakr prepared—or he said: when Abu Bakr was ready—to fight the people of apostasy, he said to him: 'How will you fight the people, O Abu Bakr, when the Messenger of God ﷺ said: I was commanded to fight the people until they say: There is no god but God, and if they say it, they protect their blood and their wealth from me except by its right, and their reckoning is upon God?' Abu Bakr said: 'By God, I will fight whoever separates between prayer and zakāh, for zakāh is the right of wealth. By God, if they withheld from me a hobble-cord that they used to give to the Messenger of God ﷺ, I would fight them for it.' 'Umar said: 'By God, it was only that I saw that God had opened Abu Bakr's chest to fighting, and I knew that it was the truth.'
