Translation
✧ We went out with Mu'adh b. Jabal to a funeral. He said: "You will not leave while they are burying him until your companion hears the sound of your sandals. Then the attendant of the grave comes to him from the direction of his head. His tongue says: 'Do not come to him from my direction, for he used to stand with the Book of Allah, Mighty and Exalted, and exert himself, so this is when he rests.' Then he comes to him from the direction of his feet. His feet say: 'Do not come to him from our direction, for he used to walk with us to the prayers.' Then he comes to him from his right side. It says: 'Do not come to him from my direction, for he used to extend his right hand in charity.' Then he comes to him from his left side. His left side says: 'Do not come to him from my direction, for he used to carry weapons upon me' – or he said: 'in me – weapons in the way of Allah.' Then he stands before his face and strikes him, saying: 'What do you say about this man?' Allah will keep him firm. If he was doubtful, he says: 'I do not know; I heard people saying something.' Then he strikes him with a blow that everything present hears except the two heavy species (jinn and humans)."
