✧ The trial of the grave

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ،
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِعُمَرَ: كَيْفَ بِكَ يَا عُمَرُ بِفَتَّانَيِ الْقَبْرِ إِذَا أَتَيَاكَ يَحْفِرَانِ بِأَنْيَابِهِمَا، وَيَطَآنِ فِي أَشْعَارِهِمَا، أَعْيُنُهُمَا كَالْبَرْقِ الْخَاطِفِ، وَأَصْوَاتُهُمَا كَالرَّعْدِ الْقَاصِفِ، مَعَهُمَا مِزْرَبَّةٌ لَوِ اجْتَمَعَ عَلَيْهَا أَهْلُ مِنًى لَمْ يُقِلُّوهَا " قَالَ عُمَرُ: وَأَنَا عَلَى مَا أَنَا عَلَيْهِ الْيَوْمَ ؟ قَالَ: " وَأَنْتَ عَلَى مَا أَنْتَ عَلَيْهِ الْيَوْمَ " قَالَ: " إِذًا أَكْفِيهِمَا إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ said to 'Umar: "How will you be, O 'Umar, with the two trial-bringers of the grave when they come to you, digging with their fangs and trampling with their hair? Their eyes are like flashing lightning, their voices like crashing thunder, and with them is a sledgehammer; if all the people of Mina gathered to lift it, they could not." 'Umar said: "And I will be as I am today?" He said: "And you will be as you are today." He said: "Then I will suffice against them, if Allah wills."
