✧ Patience, weeping, and wailing

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ قَالَ:
أَتَتِ امْرَأَةٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ: أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ وَالْوَحْيُ يَنْزِلُ عَلَيْكَ وَقَدْ أُصِيبَ ابْنَايَ حَيْثُ تَعْلَمُ، فَإِنْ يَكُونَا مُؤْمِنَيْنِ قُلْنَا فِيهِمَا بِالَّذِي نَعْلَمُ، وَإِنْ كَانَا مُنَافِقَيْنِ لَمْ نَبْكِهِمَا وَلَا نُنْعِمْهُمَا عَيْنًا قَالَ: " بَلْ هُمَا مُؤْمِنَانِ، وَهُمَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ " قَالَتِ: الْآنَ إِذًا أُبَالِغُ فِي الْبُكَاءِ عَلَيْهِمَا
Translation
✧ A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: “You are the Messenger of Allah and revelation descends upon you. My two sons have been struck where you know. If they were believers, we would speak of them with what we know; but if they were hypocrites, we would not weep for them nor comfort our eyes.” He said: “Rather they are believers, and they are from the people of Paradise.” She said: “Now I will go to great lengths in weeping over them.”
