✧ What Has Been Narrated Regarding What Fire Has Touched of Severity

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ قَالَ:
رَأَيْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِ الْحَجَّاجِ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ نَفْسَهُ، قُلْتُ: مَا شَأْنُكَ يَا أَبَا حَمْزَةَ ؟ قَالَ: خَرَجْتُ مِنْ عِنْدِ هَذَا الرَّجُلِ فَدَعَا بِطَعَامٍ لِلنَّاسِ فَأَكَلَ وَأَكَلُوا، ثُمَّ قَامُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَمَا تَوَضَّئُوا - أَوْ قَالَ: فَمَا مَسُّوا مَاءً -. كَانَ أَنَسٌ يَتَوَضَّأُ مِمَّا غَيَّرَتِ النَّارُ
Translation
✧ I saw Anas b. Malik coming out from al-Hajjaj's presence talking to himself. I said: What is the matter with you, O Abu Hamzah? He said: I came out from this man's presence when he called for food for the people, and he ate and they ate. Then they stood up to pray without performing ablution – or he said: without touching water. Anas used to perform ablution after eating what fire had changed.
