✧ The prayer over the martyr and washing him

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ قَالَ:
كَانَ عُمَرُ خَيْرَ الشُّهَدَاءِ فَغُسِّلَ وَصُلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ وَكُفِّنَ لِأَنَّهُ عَاشَ بَعْدَ طَعْنِهِ
Translation
✧ Umar was the best of martyrs, yet he was washed, prayed over, and shrouded, because he lived after his stabbing.
