✧ The prayer over the child of adultery and the stoned adulterer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ،
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَكِبَ إِلَى بَنِي الْحَارِثِ، فَرَأَى جِنَازَةً عَلَى خَشَبَةٍ، فَقَالَ: " مَا هَذَا ؟ " فَقِيلَ: عَبْدٌ لَنَا فَكَانَ عَبْدَ سُوءٍ مَسْخُوطًا جَافِيًا قَالَ: " أَكَانَ يُصَلِّي هَذَا ؟ " فَقَالُوا: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: " أَكَانَ يَقُولُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ " قَالُوا: نَعَمْ قَالَ: كَادَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ تَحُولُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ، ارْجِعُوا فَأَحْسِنُوا غُسْلَهُ وَكَفَنَهُ وَدَفْنَهُ
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ rode to Banu al-Ḥārith and saw a funeral on a piece of wood. He said: "What is this?" It was said: A slave of ours. He was a bad slave, hated, harsh. He said: "Was this one praying?" They said: Yes. He said: "Was he saying Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" They said: Yes. He said: The angels nearly came between me and him. Return and make good his washing, shrouding, and burial.
