✧ Recitation and supplication in the prayer over the deceased

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:
جَمَعْتُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى الْجَنَائِزِ أَرْبَعِينَ كِتَابًا، فَأَمْسَكْتُ مِنْهَا كِتَابًا وَاحِدًا فِيهِ: " يُكَبِّرُ ثُمَّ يَقْرَأُ بِأُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ عَبْدُكَ فُلَانٌ خَلَقْتَهُ، إِنْ تُعَاقِبْهُ فَبِذَنْبِهِ، وَإِنْ تَغْفِرْ لَهُ فَإِنَّكَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ، اللَّهُمَّ صَعِّدْ رُوحَهُ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَوَسِّعْ عَنْ جَسَدِهِ الْأَرْضَ، اللَّهُمَّ نَوِّرْ لَهُ فِي قَبْرِهِ، وَأَفْسِحْ لَهُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَاخْلُفْهُ فِي أَهْلِهِ، اللَّهُمَّ لَا تُضِلَّنَا بَعْدَهُ، وَلَا تَحْرِمْنَا أَجْرَهُ، وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلَهُ
Translation
✧ I compiled forty books on the funeral prayer, and I retained from them one book in which it says: 'He says the takbir, then recites the Mother of the Quran, then sends prayers upon the Prophet ﷺ, then says: O Allah, Your servant so-and-so, You created him. If You punish him, it is for his sin, and if You forgive him, You are the Oft-Forgiving, the Merciful. O Allah, raise his soul to heaven, widen the earth away from his body, O Allah, illuminate for him in his grave, make spacious for him in Paradise, and be his successor for his family. O Allah, do not let us go astray after him, do not deprive us of his reward, and forgive us and him.'
