✧ Recitation and supplication in the prayer over the deceased

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ،
وَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى الْجَنَائِزِ، وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ الزَّيَّاتِ قَالَ: تَبْدَأُ بِالصَّلَاةِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ثُمَّ تَقُولُ: " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِأَحْيَائِنَا وَأَمْوَاتِنَا، وَأَصْلِحْ ذَاتَ بَيْنِنَا، وَأَلِّفْ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِنَا، وَاجْعَلْ قُلُوبَنَا عَلَى قُلُوبِ أَخْيَارِنَا، اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَارْدُدْهُ إِلَى خَيْرٍ مِمَّا كَانَ فِيهِ، وَاجْعَلِ الْيَوْمَ خَيْرَ يَوْمٍ جَاءَ عَلَيْهِ، اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَحْرِمْنَا أَجْرَهُ، وَلَا تَفْتِنَّا بَعْدَهُ
Translation
✧ And I asked him about the funeral prayer, and he informed me from Abu Salih al-Zayyat who said: You begin with sending prayers upon the Prophet ﷺ, then you say: 'O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, reconcile our differences, unite our hearts, and make our hearts conform to the hearts of the best among us. O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, and return him to a better state than he was in, and make this day the best day that came upon him. O Allah, do not deprive us of his reward and do not test us after him.'
