✧ Standing when one sees a funeral

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ:
كُنَّا مَعَ عَلِيٍّ فَمُرَّ بِجِنَازَةٍ فَقَامَ لَهَا نَاسٌ "، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ: " مَنْ أَفْتَاكُمْ بِهَذَا ؟ " فَقَالُوا: أَبُو مُوسَى، فَقَالَ: إِنَّمَا فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّةً، وَكَانَ يَتَشَبَّهُ بِأَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ، فَلَمَّا نُهِيَ انْتَهَى
Translation
✧ We were with Ali when a funeral passed by, and some people stood up for it. Ali said: "Who gave you this fatwa?" They said: "Abu Musa." He said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did that only once, and he was imitating the People of the Book, but when it was forbidden he stopped."
