أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَلْحَلَةَ الدَّيْلِيُّ، عَنِ ابْنٍ لِكَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ:
كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا فَمُرَّ عَلَيْهِ بِجِنَازَةٍ، فَقَالَ: مُسْتَرِيحُ، أَوْ مُسْتَرَاحٌ مِنْهُ قَالَ: قُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا مُسْتَرِيحٌ وَمُسْتَرَاحٌ مِنْهُ ؟ قَالَ: " الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ يَسْتَرِيحُ مِنْ نَصَبِ الدُّنْيَا وَهَمِّهَا إِلَى رَحْمَةِ اللهِ، وَالْعَبْدُ الْفَاجِرُ يَسْتَرِيحُ مِنْهُ الْعِبَادُ وَالشَّجَرُ وَالدَّوَابُّ
Translation
✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day when a funeral bier was brought past him. He said: 'One at rest, or one from whom rest is taken.' He said: We said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is one at rest and one from whom rest is taken?' He said: 'The righteous servant rests from the toil of this world and its worries to the mercy of Allah, and the wicked servant—the servants, the trees, and the animals rest from him.'
