✧ The deceased is not to be followed with an incense burner

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ، وَمُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ: كَانَ يَقُولُ:

تُجَمَّرُ الثِّيَابُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُلْبِسَهَا إِيَّاهُ. وَقَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ: " لَا تُجَمِّرُوا جَسَدَهُ، وَلَا تَحْتَ نَعْشِهِ، وَلَا يُدْنَى مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ مِنَ الْمِجْمَرِ إِلَّا أَنْ تُجَمَّرَ ثِيَابُهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُلْبِسَهُ ".

Translation

✧ The garments are perfumed with incense before you clothe him in them. And Ibrahim said: "Do not perfume his body with incense, nor under his bier, nor let anything of the incense burner come near him, except that his garments be perfumed before you clothe him."
