Translation
✧ The washing of the deceased is an odd number, and its perfuming with incense is an odd number, and its shrouds are an odd number. They used to say: His final provision should not be a fire that follows him to his grave, and he enters the grave as many as he wills. He used to dislike that the bier be preceded, and that the rider go ahead of the bier, meaning he says: "the fire of the incense burner."
