Translation

✧ Abu Bakr al-Siddiq had a son in whom there was some of what Abu Bakr did not approve, and he used to look down on him for that. He fell ill, and his father entered upon him. The boy said to him: 'I am sending you to the Messenger of God ﷺ with a message: convey to him on my behalf that I bear witness that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger.' Abu Bakr set out until he entered upon the Prophet ﷺ and told him of that. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Convey to your son that he will have Paradise.' He said: Abu Bakr went out, and Umar met him and he told him. Umar said to him: 'Return with us to the Messenger of God ﷺ so that we may verify it from him.' They returned to the Prophet ﷺ and he said to him the like of this. Umar said: 'O Messenger of God, this is for the dead, so how about the living?' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'The like of it, and the like of it, and the like of it,' until he counted some thirty-odd times. He said: And al-Qasim gestured with his hand, thirty-four.
