عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ، قَالَ الثَّوْرِيُّ: وَحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ رُفَيْعٍ، عَنْ شَدَّادٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ:
لَيُنْتَزَعَنَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنُ مِنْ بَيْنِ أَظْهُرِكُمْ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، كَيْفَ يُنْتَزَعُ وَقَدْ أَثْبَتْنَاهُ فِي صُدُورِنَا وَأَثْبَتْنَاهُ فِي مَصَاحِفِنَا ؟ قَالَ: " يُسْرَى عَلَيْهِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ فَلَا يَبْقَى فِي قَلْبِ عَبْدٍ مِنْهُ وَلَا مُصْحَفٍ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ، وَيُصْبِحُ النَّاسُ فُقَرَاءَ كَالْبَهَائِمِ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ عَبْدُ اللهِ ﴿وَلَئِنْ شِئْنَا لَنَذْهَبَنَّ بِالَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ ثُمَّ لا تَجِدُ لَكَ بِهِ عَلَيْنَا وَكِيلا ﴾
Translation
✧ "This Qurʾān will surely be snatched away from among you." He said: I said: "O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, how will it be snatched away when we have fixed it in our hearts and fixed it in our maṣāḥif?" He said: "It will be taken up by night, and nothing of it will remain in the heart of any servant or in any muṣḥaf. The people will wake up poor, like beasts." Then ʿAbd Allāh recited: "And if We willed, We could surely take away that which We have revealed to you. Then you would find no guardian for you against Us in that."
