✧ A Wound That Does Not Stop Bleeding

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ:
لَمَّا طُعِنَ عُمَرُ احْتَمَلْتُهُ أَنَا وَنَفَرٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، حَتَّى أَدْخَلْنَاهُ مَنْزِلَهُ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ فِي غَشْيَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ حَتَّى أَسْفَرَ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: إِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تُفْزِعُوهُ بِشَيْءٍ إِلَّا بِالصَّلَاةِ، قَالَ: فَقُلْنَا: الصَّلَاةَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، قَالَ: فَفَتَحَ عَيْنَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَصَلَّى النَّاسُ ؟ قُلْنَا: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَا حَظَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ لِأَحَدٍ تَرَكَ الصَّلَاةَ، فَصَلَّى وَجُرْحُهُ يَثْعَبُ دَمًا
Translation
✧ When 'Umar was stabbed, I and a group of the Ansar carried him until we brought him into his house. He remained in a single swoon until dawn broke. A man said: You will not alarm him with anything except the prayer. So we said: The prayer, O Commander of the Believers! He opened his eyes and said: Have the people prayed? We said: Yes. He said: Indeed, no one has any share in Islam who abandons the prayer. So he prayed while his wound was flowing with blood.
