عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: مَا الَّذِي إِذَا أَدْرَكَهُ الْإِنْسَانُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ قَصَرَ، وَإِلَّا أَوْفَى الصَّلَاةَ ؟ قَالَ: " الْخُطْبَةُ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ: فَلَمْ أَجْلِسْ حَتَّى نَزَلَ الْإِمَامُ ؟ قَالَ: " لَمْ يُدْرِكِ الْإِمَامَ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ: فَجَلَسْتُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ ؟ قَالَ: " حَسْبُكَ، قَدْ أَدْرَكْتَ
Translation
✧ I said to 'Ata': What is it that, when a person catches it on Friday, he shortens, and otherwise he completes the prayer? He said: "The khutbah." He said: I said: So I did not sit until the imam descended? He said: "He has not caught the imam." He said: I said: So I sat before he descended? He said: "That is sufficient for you; you have caught it."
