✧ What Necessitates Silence on Friday

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ:

مَا أَوْجَبَ الْإِنْصَاتَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ؟ قَالَ: قَوْلُهُ: ﴿وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وَأَنْصِتُوا ﴾قَالَ: " كَذَلِكَ زَعَمُوا فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَفِي يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ: وَالْإِنْصَاتُ لِمَنْ يَسْتَمِعُ الْخُطْبَةَ كَالْإِنْصَاتِ لِمَنْ يَسْتَمِعُ الْقُرْآنَ ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ

Translation

✧ What necessitates silence on Friday? He said: His saying: "When the Qur'an is recited, listen to it and be silent." He said: "Thus they claimed regarding prayer and on Friday." He said: I said: And silence for the one listening to the sermon is like silence for the one listening to the Qur'an? He said: "Yes."
