عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:
فَلَمَّا كَانَ مُعَاوِيَةُ اسْتَأْذَنَ النَّاسَ فِي الْجُلُوسِ فِي إِحْدَى الْخُطْبَتَيْنِ، وَقَالَ: إِنِّي قَدْ كَبِرْتُ، وَقَدْ أَرَدْتُ أَجْلِسُ إِحْدَى الْخُطْبَتَيْنِ، فَجَلَسَ فِي الْخُطْبَةِ الْأُولَى
Translation

machine translationʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Ibn Jurayj, who said: Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad informed me, from his father, who said:
✧ When Mu'awiya's time came, he asked the people's permission to sit during one of the two sermons and said, 'I have grown old and I want to sit during one of the two sermons.' So he sat during the first sermon.
