عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّهُ
رَأَى مُعَاوِيَةَ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ، وَفِي يَدِهِ قُصَّةٌ مِنْ شَعَرٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: أَيْنَ عُلَمَاؤُكُمْ يَا أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ ؟ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ وَصْلِ هَذَا، وَقَالَ: إِنَّمَا عُذِّبَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَتْ، إِنَّمَا عُذِّبَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَتْ نِسَاؤُهُمْ هَذِهِ
Translation
✧ He saw Muʿāwiya giving a sermon on the pulpit, and in his hand was a lock of hair. He said: I heard him say: Where are your scholars, O people of Madinah? I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ forbid the attachment of this, and he said: The Children of Israel were punished when their women took up this. The Children of Israel were punished when their women took up this.
